The time when the village, a typical example of a small urban agglomeration surrounded by defensive walls, arose is not precisely documented; a foundation in the 12th century is likely. It is definitely mentioned in a document from 1508 and was populated until 1963, when the last inhabitants moved to Prata d’Ansidonia. It has recently undergone partial redevelopment, but the failure to complete the work and the lack of protection have once again reduced it to a state of neglect. Inside, the church of St. Peter and a few aristocratic mansions remain, along with simple council houses.
