It is said that transhumant shepherds from Abruzzo and Molise brought with them a painting of Our Lady to ensure protection during their journey and long winter sojourn in Apulia and that, as a miracle reported by the plaque on the portal, tale painting was found again by a local farmer while plowing his land near the chapel. The festival in honor of Our Lady of Belmonte takes place every year in May and is also attended by the faithful from Molise.
