Truly pilgrim welcome and on offer run by Nicola the village pharmacist, who for the sheer pleasure of welcoming pilgrims does this service. In the first house there are 4/6 bunk beds and one double bed. Through Nicola possibility to sleep also in the reception of the parish priest Don Domenico.
XENIA – Book crossing consists of implementing a series of collaborative, voluntary and free initiatives that link the passion for reading and books with the passion for sharing goods and knowledge. books made free, in any environment, can be read and shared again. The idea is to apply the mechanism of book crossing to pilgrimage, using facilities frequented by pilgrims(bb, “poor” accommodation facilities , churches) as exchange points. How does it work? The books in the Xenía“poor” shelter, have been registered, assigning each one a number(on a label or handwritten). Inside each book you will also find an explanatory card and the e-mail address where you can communicate the book’s journey with comments(you can also send photos). All house guests will be able to take a book with them and if they wish, they can leave one of their own that will be promptly recorded and made available. The pilgrim wayfarer, at the end of the reading or when he or she deems it appropriate, may release the book at any other pilgrim reception and communicate the location using the contact. Freedom, cultural enrichment(without economic impoverishment or waste of resources), sharing and welcoming are the basis of this idea and that is what you will find in the Xenía house in the historic center of Monte Sant’Angelo.
