Stage 07 (bike) – Montenero di Bisaccia – Serracapriola

Just outside the town of Montenero di Bisaccia lies the Marian shrine of the Madonna di Bisaccia. Once past the shrine, a short detour takes you to the Grotta della Madonna della Bisaccia, a cave carved into a rock face along the Tratturo Centurelle–Montesecco trail. Here, the sheep trail is very clearly visible, and you can follow it to the next valley, where the final uphill stretch leading to Guglionesi begins. Still passing through intensively farmed hilly terrain, the trail descends from Guglionesi to the Biferno River and, continuing to follow the Tratturo—which remains clearly visible—proceeds eastward halfway between Portocannone and San Martino in Pensilis, until it reaches Nuova Cliternia, a hamlet of Campomarino, where the sanctuary of the Madonna Grande is located. The route then returns to the Tratturo Magno and follows it for a long stretch until it intersects State Road 16TER; here, the route crosses the bridge over the Saccione stream, which marks the border between Molise and Puglia; Here, at the foot of Montesecco, there used to be a large resting place along the sheep trail, and it was the point where the Tratturo Magno and the Tratturo Centurelle Montesecco converged. The route continues with ups and downs, culminating in a challenging final ascent that leads to the village of Serracapriola, where Stage No. 07
