Village of Tussio – Prata D’Ansidonia

An ancient village whose medieval origin is still evident in its ovoid shape and concentric narrow streets, it derives its name from that of St. Tussio, a hermit who is said to have dwelt in caves in the surrounding area. It stands at the edge of the Tratturo Magno, an important route that connected the mountains of Abruzzo with the Tavoliere of Puglia. Historical vicissitudes are linked to nearby Peltuinum and the Baronia of Carapelle. First independent, it was merged with Prata d’Ansidonia in 1806.
